Tracking is the most important aspect of digital marketing. Google Analytics is a tool that helps in tracking all the important aspects relevant to your business objectives. For example, if your business goal is to ‘acquire new users’, Google Analytics provides information about ‘Generating leads’, including how users reach your site, which ones fill out your interest form, and many more. By measuring these metrics, you can make informed decisions towards your business growth.
In 2024, if you want to start learning Google Analytics, I highly recommend starting with Google itself. Google Skillshop provides free courses on Google Analytics. One thing that might be confusing is that they offer courses on both GA4 (Google Analytics 4) and UA (Universal Analytics). GA4 is the latest version of analytics, and according to Google, UA stopped processing data starting July 1, 2023. Therefore, I will only discuss GA4 here.
In Google Skillshop, there are four courses on Google Analytics 4:
1. Get started using Google Analytics
2. Use Google Analytics for your Business
3. Measure your Marketing with Google Analytics
4. Going further with your Google Analytics Data
After completing all these courses, you have to pass the assessment to obtain the ‘Google Analytics Certification’. The link to these courses is provided here: GA4 Courses: Google Skillshop
In this blog, I will only discuss the course ‘Getting started using Google Analytics’ because I recently completed it. I will provide all the information regarding what I learned from this course.
What I learned:
- What ‘Google Analytics’ is
- What a ‘Marketing Funnel’ is and its various stages
- Creating an Account on Google Analytics
- What ‘Properties’ and ‘Data streams’ are and how to structure them
- How to connect GA with a website or an app (using Google Tag and Firebase SDK)
- How it collects data and generates relevant reports according to business objectives
- What the entire Google Analytics Dashboard looks like
- Managing analytics account access and settings
- Powering the reports using ‘Dimensions’ and ‘Metrics’.
Why Consider Google Skillshop for Learning GA4:
- Amazing and informative lectures

- Providing a ‘Demo account’ to practice what you learn from the course
- Free of cost courses
- With certifications to improve CV
In conclusion, I’m thankful to all the viewers for reading my blog. If anyone has any confusion regarding this course, they can write it down in the comment section, and I will address those comments. Thank you, “Keep Learning and Keep Growing”.
